In response to the 'loudmouth', the welterweight champion supported Goddard's decision, by declaring the knockout in the fifth round and, in an interview with 'MMA Fighting', responded to his rival about his way of thinking.

Finally, the Nigerian stated that the North American has the right to disagree with the official result. However, for Usman, it is clear that the outcome could not have been any different from what happened.
“You can say it's controversial, but you have to see that the referee saw you being hit with countless blows in a row. He has to be able to intervene and allow you to live to fight again another day,” he concluded.
