Just over two weeks after defeating Dmitrii Bivol, boxer Saul Canelo Alvarez placeholder image has already made his return to the ring official. In a post on his Instagram, the Mexican announced that he will perform the long-awaited trilogy against Kazakh Gennadiy Gennadyevich Golovkin, better known as 'GGG'. The location of the confrontation has not yet been confirmed.

“I'm happy to have the best fights and this will be one of them without a doubt. It's time to finish what we started and defend our titles. Canelo vs GGG 3 on September 17th. The location is yet to be confirmed,” Canelo wrote.
Canelo and GGG have faced each other on two previous occasions. In the first of them, in 2017, the athletes tied in a controversial decision after 12 very balanced rounds. In the long-awaited rematch, the following year, the Mexican won by unanimous decision from the judges. The two disputes took place in the middleweight category (72,5 kg).
The trilogy between Canelo and GGG will be valid in the super welterweight division (76 kg). At stake will be Canelo's titles from the WBA (World Boxing Association), WBC (World Boxing Council), IBF (International Boxing Federation), WBO (World Boxing Organization) and the magazine title TheRing.
