About two weeks after the historic conquest of the middleweight title (up to 83,9kg) at UFC 281, Alex Poatán he again sniped his rival Israel adesanya. On social media, the Brazilian released images from another angle of Marc Goddard's interruption in the confrontation that determined the São Paulo native's victory. The new Ultimate star asked his followers for their opinion on the referee's performance.
“Did the referee do the right thing by stopping the fight? Leave your opinion”, wrote the Brazilian, on his profile on Instagram.

On November 12, Poatan made MMA history by overcoming Adesanya, who had occupied the group's throne since 2019. In addition to the achievement, the São Paulo native expanded the dispute with his rival, who had already lost on two occasions to Alex under kickboxing rules.
