Drake’s “curse” gained another chapter last Sunday (26). Known for investing large amounts in risky bets and, most of the time, getting the worst of it, the Canadian rapper didn't let the fight between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury and bet US$400 (around R$2,08 million) on a knockout victory for the North American YouTuber.
The result of the fight, however, was different. After eight rounds of combat, Jake Paul ended up defeated by Tommy Fury, younger brother of the multi-time world champion Tyson Fury, in the judges' split decision.

This isn't the first time Drake has lost money betting on combat sports. Recently, the Canadian rapper accumulated millions of losses betting on the victories of Justin gaethje about Charles of the Bronx, Jorge masvidal about Colby covington e Israel adesanya about Alex Poatán.
After his defeat to Tommy Fury, himself Jake Paul joked about the “Drake curse”. Upon learning that the rapper had bet on his victory, the YouTuber jokingly blamed him for the result.
“S***, that’s Drake’s fault (laughs). Drake, brother, why did you do this to me? No, no, I lost because of me. 400 thousand is nothing to him. He definitely made more money betting on me before. We're probably even now. Sorry, Drake, I’m going to get this win in the rematch.”
As every rule has its exceptions, the rapper has also celebrated some important victories, such as the NBA title for the Toronto Raptors, his favorite team, in 2019, and the Argentine team at the World Cup in Qatar, in 2022.
