Aljamain Sterling reveals unusual bet with Sean O'Malley before UFC 292

Bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling revealed that the first to attempt a takedown will have to pay 100 dollars

As if the bantamweight belt (up to 61,2kg) wasn't enough, aljamain sterling and Sean O'Malley found extra motivation for the main fight of the UFC 292, this Saturday (19): a side bet.

During his appearance on the podcast 'MMA Hour', on the North American website 'MMA Fighting', Sterling revealed that he made a bet of US$100 (around R$500) with O'Malley regarding who will star in the first attempt at fall from combat.

“Whoever falls first pays 100 dollars. I believe that when I pressure him, he may panic and attempt a takedown. He might be the first to go down because he'll be worried about me taking him down. Or it could just be a prank. You never know, you never know,” Sterling revealed.

Bantamweight champion since March 2021, aljamain sterling search, in the main fight of the UFC 292, the fourth defense of the category belt. The North American of Jamaican descent is coming off a victory over the former champion Henry Cejudo in his last appearance, in May of this year.

On the other hand, Sean O'Malley occupies second place in the category's ranking and seeks to become the second fighter from the 'Contender Series' to become UFC champion. At 28 years old, the North American is undefeated in five fights and is coming off a victory over the former champion Petr yan, in October of last year.

With aljamain sterling and Sean O'Malley as protagonists, the UFC 292 takes place this Saturday (19), at TD Garden, in Boston, in the United States. The event also features a dispute for the strawweight belt (up to 52,1kg) between the Chinese Weili Zhang and the Brazilian Amanda lemos.
