Bantamweight champion (up to 65,8kg) MMA fighter from ONE Championship, Fabrício Andrade wants to make history in the Asian organization. The Brazilian won the chance to compete for the vacant kickboxing bantamweight title and plans to be the first athlete to hold two belts from different disciplines in ONE. To achieve this feat, he will have to defeat Muay Thai bantamweight champion Jonathan Haggerty, in a duel that is scheduled for October 7th in Bangkok, Thailand, at ONE Fight Night 15.

“Before dedicating myself completely to MMA, before signing a contract with ONE, I had a contract to fight kickboxing. At the time I signed, I already had this interest. It ended up not happening, as I ended up dedicating myself more to MMA. But now the opportunity has appeared. Being a kickboxing champion is something that hasn't happened in my career yet. And I also have the chance to do something that no one has done yet. Becoming the first athlete to be champion in MMA and kickboxing. And that is my biggest motivation for this fight”, said Fabrício.

Englishman Jonathan Haggerty was once the flyweight champion in Muay Thai and currently holds the bantamweight belt, a title he won in February this year after beating the legend Nong-O Gaiyanghadao by knockout in the first round. Fabrício, who also won his MMA belt in February this year by defeating John Lineker, praised Haggerty, but believes he has more tools to win this fight.

“He is a very technical athlete. He plays well on his opponents' mistakes and has a good read of the fight. His strong point is elbows, but in this fight he won't be able to use them because they are not allowed under the kickboxing rules. And his weak point is that he can't absorb blows well. So, I intend to exploit this to have an advantage in the fight. I think I have a total advantage over him in kickboxing because I'm more used to the rules, even though I haven't fought under those rules for a while. I also believe that I have an advantage in Boxing and in the power of my blows. During the fight, this will give me some advantage and I will be able to knock him out”, he guaranteed.
