In preparation to return to the octagon after recovering from a serious fracture suffered in 2021, Chris Weidman arouses nervousness in Ray Longo. In a recent speech, the former middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg) stated that he will kick as powerfully as possible and created fear in his coach. According to the athlete's mentor, the possible consequence of the kick is his greater fear.

"I'm a little nervous. I'm nervous about the injury, because if he fights the fight he wants to fight, he told Ariel Helwani he's going to kick the guy as hard as he can, and he can... I'll get over it, but I think I'm a little nervous about the leg , it would kill me if he hurt that leg again,” Longo said in an interview with 'CBS Sports'.

When talking about training, Ray highlighted that Weidman has not practiced what will actually be experienced in the octagon.

“Supposedly, it’s a bionic leg now. He trained at the gym, he didn't go from shin to shin, he was on the heavy bag, but he was whipping. He was a violent leg kicker back in the day, he never really showed it in the UFC, but he took down a lot of guys in the gym with leg kicks. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous, that’s the only thing I’m nervous about,” he concluded.

Away since fracture suffered in confrontation with Uriah Hall, Weidman expresses anxiety about returning to the octagon. Escalated to face Brad Tavares, the athlete performs this Saturday (19), at UFC 292. At 39 years old, Chris has two wins in his last five fights and is seen as a big underdog for the next fight.
