Frenchman wins at UFC Paris, but faces controversy over alleged illegal strikes

Cyryl Gane He showed once again why he is considered one of the best heavyweights (up to 120,2kg) in the UFC. Last Saturday (2/9), he knocked out Moldovan Sergey Spivak in the second round of the main fight of UFC Paris, held at the Accor Arena. It was the Frenchman's 12th victory, his ninth by knockout or submission.

Gane, however, was the target of criticism on social media for allegedly landing blows to the back of Spivak's head during the fight, which is prohibited by MMA rules. The Frenchman faces the same accusations from fans, also based on his knockouts against Junior Cigano and Tai Tuivasa.

He celebrated the victory in his homeland and expressed his desire for another chance to challenge for the heavyweight title. Currently, the fighter is the leader of the ranking of the division, having surpassed Sergei Pavlovich.

The heavyweight champion is Jon Jones, who defeated Gane via guillotine submission at 2:04 of the first round in March. Gane still aims for the organization's title. In MMA, Gane has a record made up of 12 victories, nine of which via the fast track (six by knockout and three by submission), and two defeats.
