A shocking scene marked the preliminary card of the UFC 293, held this Saturday (9), in Sydney, Australia. The local fighter Jack Jenkins suffered a serious injury to his right elbow while trying to defend himself from a fall from his opponent, the American Chepe Mariscal, in the second round of the fight valid for the lightweight category (70 kg).

Jenkins had been dominating the fight up until that point, landing more blows and taking advantage in striking. However, when he was grabbed by Mariscal, who was trying to take the fight to the ground, the Australian placed his right arm on the ground and ended up suffering a dislocation in his elbow joint.
The central referee realized the seriousness of the situation and stopped the fight immediately, declaring Mariscal's victory by technical knockout.
The audience in the arena fell silent upon seeing the image of Jenkins' arm hanging abnormally. The fighter himself seemed to not believe what had happened and sat in the octagon, with an expression of pain and frustration. He won the fight according to the judges' scores.
Chepe Mariscal adds his fifth consecutive victory in his career, two in Ultimate and now has 15 triumphs and six setbacks as an MMA professional.
On the other hand, Jenkins suffers his first defeat in three fights in the organization and now boasts a record of 12 positive results and three negative results as a mixed martial arts professional.
