the fight between Johnny Walker e Magomed Ankalayev ended controversially in UFC 294 this Saturday (21/10), held in Abu Dhabi. The fight was stopped by the referee after the Russian illegally kneed the Brazilian, who was in three supports.
The doctor assessed that Johnny Walker he was unable to continue because of a cut and the duel was declared without result. The fight was valid for the main card of the event and pitted two of the main names in the light heavyweight category (up to 93kg) face to face.

Walker was on a three-fight win streak, while Ankalaev was undefeated in ten fights. The expectation was for an electrifying duel, but what we saw was a frustrating outcome for both fighters.
Walker x Ankalaev ends without result
The fight started cautiously, with the two exchanging high and low kicks. Walker tried to surprise with a flying knee, but Ankalaev took the opportunity to grab him and press him against the fence. It was at that moment that the Russian landed a knee to the Brazilian's head, who had one hand on the ground. This is a serious infraction of the MMA rules, which prohibits blows to the head of opponents in three stances.
The referee called the doctor to examine Walker, who had a small cut on his face, and intervened immediately. The Brazilian, however, protested and said he wanted to continue the fight, but the doctor decided he was unable to continue. UFC President, Dana White entered the octagon and confirmed the end of the fight.
The official result was announced as “no contest”, meaning that neither fighter was declared the winner or loser. The decision generated outrage among fans and the fighters themselves, who felt harmed by the situation. Walker said the knee didn't affect him and he was ready to continue.
