UFC does not want Charles do Bronx as champion, says Brazilian fighter

Charles of the Bronx, former lightweight champion of the UFC who lost the belt for not making weight, has been facing resistance from the organization, according to Brazilian fighter Tainara Lisboa. In an interview with the “MMA com Oswaldo” podcast, the Ultimate bantamweight (up to 61,2kg) stated that Dana White's company does not want to see the São Paulo native becoming the title holder again.

Tainara claims that the UFC does everything to make Charles' life more difficult, such as scheduling the rematch against Makhachev again in Abu Dhabi, where the Russian has more fans, instead of bringing the fight to Brazil or neutral territory.

Charles do Bronx hopes for UFC belt

Charles of the Bronx, who is 34 years old, has 34 victories, nine defeats and one unsuccessful fight in MMA.

In September 2022, Do Bronx challenged for the vacant title against Makhachev, but was submitted in the second round. The rematch between the two was scheduled for November 2023, but was canceled after Charles suffered a cut on his eyebrow on the eve of the fight.

The UFC has not yet announced a new date or a new opponent for the Brazilian, who continues to wait for a new chance to regain his belt.
