The Ultimate commentator Daniel Cormier was yet another to give his opinion in the long (and controversial) discussion about the duel between Conor McGregor e Michael chandler. In his podcast on the American 'ESPN', 'DC' criticized the North American for wasting his career waiting for the Irishman to return and said that he is moving away from the lightweight elite due to his inactivity.

“I think Chandler is really stepping back to fight McGregor and leaving the lightweight elite now. He's really choosing name and money over the competition. I believe there are bigger fights for Chandler, for where he is in his career, as opposed to where McGregor is in his career. He still fights at champion level. In competitive terms, he is taking a step back. Poirier fights St-Denis, Charles fights Tsarukyan. There are Fiziev out there. If he fights Fiziev and wins, he's back, because no fight will guarantee a title fight now, but there are fights that will bring him closer. I believe these competitive fights would bring him closer to a title shot. He’s going backwards,” criticized Cormier.

Protagonists of the thirty-first edition of the reality show 'The Ultimate Fighter', which took place in 2023, Chandler and McGregor still have no official date to face each other in the most famous octagon in the world. According to Dana White, the fight should be announced as soon as the Irishman is 100% ready to fight again.
