Former UFC bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg), cody garbrandt received an invitation to be present at the historic edition of UFC 300 in a duel against Deiveson Figueiredo. Contrary to what many people imagine, the North American was very pleased to have been selected, among so many other talents, to take part in the first fight of the event scheduled for April 13th.
“For me, I’m feeling gratitude. I'm very grateful to be on UFC 300. Being announced first works in my favor. I wake up early, I train early. In the afternoon we fought, we opened the event. This also shows the power of attraction that I have to put people in their seats from the first horn,” said Garbrandt in an interview with MMA Junkie.

As he continued speaking, Cody stated that he understood Dana White's strategy for the big event.
“For me, that says a lot. I'm excited about what the UFC is doing. I understand what Dana (White) and the bosses, Hunter (Campbell), want to do: have people in that place from start to finish. I can guarantee that I will go out and give the best performance of my life. For me, (fighting first) eliminates the guessing game. Being able to prepare (for a set time). I’m excited to open (the card)”, he concluded.
Looking to return to the title race, cody garbrandt faces Deiveson Figueiredo this Saturday (13) in Las Vegas, at the T-Mobile Arena. Altogether, the UFC 300 will feature 13 duels and three title fights. Currently, the North American is seen as a big underdog in bookmakers.
