The defeat for Arman Tsarukyan No. UFC 300 seriously shook the dream of Charles of the Bronx to regain the lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg). Thinking about the future of the former champion, SUPER LUTAS tries to unveil the scenario that the Brazilian will face in his next rounds in the division.

In the latest update of the lightweight rankings, Charles now finds himself in second place, behind his tormentor Arman Tsarukyan. The Armenian must rest and wait for the winner of the clash between the champion Islam makhachev and number four in the category Dustin poirier, which are faced in the UFC 302, on the 01nd of June.
For Charles not to move away from the elite of the category, the most interesting thing would be a duel with the Pole Mateusz gamrot, number five in the ranking and who has been riding on three consecutive victories, the last over the former champion Rafael dos Anjos last March. Or a revenge against Justin gaethje who was brutally knocked out by Max Holloway the same UFC 300.
The other options in the top-10 in the category would be 'high risk and low reward' for the Brazilian. The number eight Raphael Fiziev and tenth place Renato Moicano they would add little to the former champion's resume today and a victory over them would not be a serious ace in the hole to demand a subsequent title fight.
It's time for Charles and his team to think carefully about the Brazilian idol's next move. The dream of winning the Ultimate belt again will largely depend on the former champion's next round. The 'Lion' needs to think before proving that he is still alive.
