José Aldo confirms that he would face legend in farewell to MMA, but rival's injury prevented fight

Brazilian would clash between former champions at UFC 301 in a challenge initially planned by the organization

Back to Brazil in UFC 301 for his farewell fight in professional MMA, José Aldo, initially, there would be a fight between legends in Brazil. According to Aaron Bronsteter, reporter for 'sportsnet', the manauara would measure forces with Dominick Cruz in front of their fans. With the North American injured, Jonathan martinez made the commitment.

On May 4, Aldo steps into the Octagon after two years of inactivity. In his last commitment, the 'King of Rio' was surpassed by Merab Dvalishvili and said goodbye to the race towards fighting for the bantamweight belt (up to 61,2kg).

After the hiatus, José accepted the invitation to return to competition for a farewell fight. Cruz's replacement, Martinez, who occupies a prominent place in the top 15, seeks to extend his great phase against the biggest opponent of his career.

A living legend of MMA, Aldo will not take part in the main clash of the UFC 301. In the last clash, Alexandre pantoja measure forces with Steve Erceg and seeks new title defense in flyweight (up to 56,7kg.).
