One of the most experienced lightweight athletes (up to 70,3kg), Diego Ferreira broke the bank at UFC St. Louis, held on Saturday night (11). Before the Polish promise Mateusz Rebecki, the Brazilian managed to survive an intense first round from his rival, remained calm, did not deviate from his strategy and grew during the confrontation until achieving a knockout at the end of the third round.

With the knockout over Rebecki, Diego achieved his second consecutive victory in the organization and definitively recovered from the delicate sequence of three defeats he suffered recently. At 39 years old, 'CDF' has a professional MMA record of 19 triumphs and just five setbacks.

Victory of resilience

Immediately after the touch of gloves, Rebecki attacked Diego and soon landed a left blow. The Brazilian tried to dodge by going laterally, the Pole showed good momentum and worked well on his striking. Diego started to respond with good counterattacks and showed Mateusz that he wasn't 'dead' in the confrontation.

The 'CDF' grew in the fight and the two fighters began to exchange blows intensely and with a lot of power, which left the fight with the 'smell of a knockout'. In the final minutes, Rebecki landed a cross that led to Diego being knocked down. The Pole ended the round punishing the Brazilian with ground and pound.

On the way back to the second round, Rebecki landed another blow and dealt another knockdown to the Brazilian, who quickly got up. The Pole then attempted another takedown but was unable to keep the Brazilian on the ground for long. In the second half of the round, the referee interrupted the fight so the doctor could examine Rebecki's eyes, which were badly damaged.

To avoid blows to his eye, Rebecki quickly got the takedown but the Brazilian made the transition brilliantly, got on top of the Pole and ended the round almost landing a katagatame on Mateusz. Even with his eyes damaged, Mateusz was not intimidated in the third round but he looked very tired and felt Diego's blows to his damaged eyes.

Diego walked forward calmly and patiently and kept the fight completely under his control, rejecting the Pole's takedown attempts. Mateusz managed to take down the Brazilian but 'CDF' made the transition quickly, got the mount and started punishing his rival with ground and pound with punches and elbows.

In the final minute, Mateusz got up but the Pole no longer had enough fuel to stay upright. Diego went to mount, punished his rival with ground and pound and forced the referee to stop the fight.

the duel between Carlos Ulberg e Alonzo Menifield ended faster than the time it took the athletes to reach the Octagon. Right after the bell sounded, Menifield went all out on Ulberg, who knew how to stop his rival's momentum and respond with a swift counterattack that led to Alonzo's immediate knockout, forcing the referee to interrupt the confrontation.

In seven fights in the UFC, Ulberg has suffered just one defeat and is on a six-fight winning streak in the organization. On the other hand, Menifield sees his streak of five fights without suffering a setback being broken and now he will have to restart his journey towards the light heavyweight elite.
