The UFC featherweight belt (up to 56,7kg) is close to being put on the line. On his social networks, the category champion, Ilia Topuria, confirmed advanced negotiations for an event in Spain. Without an opponent, the athlete has Max Holloway as one of the options.
“I have a date for UFC Spain”, wrote Topuria, on his profile on X.

With more than 30 years of history, the UFC has never promoted an event in Spain. The athlete can then become the first to headline an event in the country.
In early 2024, Ilia made history by ending the long reign of Alexander Volkanovsky. The Australian led the division between for almost five years.
Currently, Topuria has no confirmed rival for his next clash. Max Holloway, who won the 'BMF' belt in his last challenge, is a strong candidate for the challenger spot.
