In a world where brute force often dictates the pace of combat, Gregory Robocop, average weight (up to 83,9kg.) UFC, found his redemption in an unexpected teaching: focus in the face of adversity. The key to this transformation came from the words of none other than Alex Poatán, current light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg.) of the organization, who became the Brazilian fighter's mentor in his last preparation.
In an interview with the 'MMA Hoje' podcast, Robocop revealed that the biggest lesson learned from Poatan did not come from an intense sparring session, but rather from an in-depth conversation that made him rethink his stance inside the octagon.

“Poatan told me that, after taking a blow, you shouldn't expose yourself or think that the fight is lost. It is necessary to recover, move forward and seek victory”, reported the fighter.
The change in mindset was crucial for Robocop in his fight against Brad Tavares, in February this year. After suffering a devastating right cross, the Brazilian felt the primitive instinct to go into the fight, seeking to retaliate with fury. However, Poatan's words echoed in his mind and made him be more cautious.
“I remembered the conversation with Poatan and decided to recover, move forward and look for the path to victory. I didn’t let myself get carried away by emotion and managed to turn the situation around,” he concluded.
The serenity gained from the champion's advice translated into two consecutive victories for Robocop, after a defeat to Bruno Hulk in January 2023. The last of them, precisely about Brad Tavares, consolidates the fighter's redemption and puts him back on the path to ascension in the UFC.
