Former title challenger and one of the most popular names in welterweight history (up to 77,1 kg), Nick Diaz has confirmed his return to the UFC octagon after almost three years of inactivity. At 40 years old, the veteran faces the Brazilian Vincent Luque on the main card of UFC Abu Dhabi, on August 3, in the United Arab Emirates. The information was confirmed by Dana White via UFC social media this Wednesday (29).
With around 23 years of career, Nick Diaz he enjoyed his peak between 2008 and 2013, a period in which he won belts in EliteXC and Strikeforce and competed for the interim and linear UFC welterweight titles, but ended up defeated by Carlos Condit and Georges St-Pierre, respectively.

In 2015, Diaz was defeated by Anderson Silva in a duel that was later defined as 'no result' after the Brazilian was caught taking an anti-doping test. After that, the North American remained away from competition for six years, returning in September 2021 with a defeat to the former champion Robbie Lawler.
On the other side, Vincent Luque occupies 14th place in the welterweight rankings. The Brazilian is going through a delicate moment in the organization, with just one victory in his last four fights. In his last appearance, in March, the 'Silent Assassin' ended up being knocked out by Joaquin buckley.
