The middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg.), Dricus Du Plessis, once again questioned the delay in having his fight against Israel adesanya confirmed by UFC. In an interview with 'FightWave', the South African admitted to having accepted the terms to measure forces with the former leader of the division. So far, the confrontation is an unknown for fans.
"I'm in. I already agreed to everything. I'm ready. It's the fight I want. I challenged him after I won the belt and it's the fight the fans want to see. Let's announce it. I don't know what's preventing it from becoming official. I already said I'm 100% in. I don't know about him. (…) He said he would be ready to fight in May. I've been ready ever since. I just wasn't ready to fight in the UFC 300 (occurred in April),” said Du Plessis.

Category leader, Dricus assumed the division's throne at the beginning of 2024. The athlete wore the belt after overcoming the then champion, Sean Strickland.
Since winning, Du Plessis has not returned to competition. For months, the company has been airing a clash between the South African and Israel adesanya.
'Izzy's last challenge took place at the end of 2023. At the time, the Nigerian had a lackluster performance and was dethroned by Sean Strickland.
