After suffering two consecutive defeats in the first half of 2024, Paulo borrachinha has already chosen his next target in search of redemption in the organization. The Brazilian average weight (up to 83,9 kg) Khamzat Shimaev as an ideal opponent for his immediate future.
During a recent appearance on 'MMA Hour', Borrachinha stated that Chimaev would be the ideal opponent to awaken his old, more aggressive and fierce version in the UFC octagon.

“I think he (Chimaev) is the perfect type of fighter to bring back the old Paulo. To bring back the aggressiveness, the ferocity. That's what I'm looking for. You can see it on my face, I can't wait to bring this style back because I need redemption. I'm angry, brother. No one can get angrier than myself when I have a bad fight, like I did as Sean. I'm not talking about defeats. Defeats come and go. I don’t think people have a bad perception of me because of the losses, but I’m annoyed with myself,” he said.
Rubber Target, Khamzat Shimaev has been facing health problems that took him out of the main fight of the UFC Saudi Arabia, this Saturday (22), in which he would face Robert whittaker. The Brazilian said he had no information about his rival, but reaffirmed his interest in facing him when he became available.
“I need this fight. Chimaev is the perfect guy. It would be a fun fight. In Brazil they don't stop talking about me needing to face the 'Chechen Gourmet'. The European fans, the Mexican fans, everyone wants to see this fight. Even some Russians send me messages. It's the fight to be had. I don't know when Chimaev will return. I don't even know if he'll come back, I don't know anything about that. But if he fights again, he should fight me,” he concluded.
