Former UFC representative shows respect to Brazilian when discussing 'dream fight'

At 47, Yoel romero admitted that he would feel honored to face Alex Poatán in MMA. On social media, the sports veteran shared an excerpt from an interview in which he shows respect for the Brazilian star, but does not hide his desire to 'fight his dreams'. The Cuban even pointed out the way to win.

“Many ask me if I would fight the great champion that the UFC has now, Pereira (Poatan). He has a lot of experience. He is a born knockout artist. It would be an honor to face a person of this caliber,” said Romero.

Afterwards, Yoel pointed out the strategy he would use against the Brazilian star. The intention would not be to go for grappling, but to combine techniques throughout the confrontation.

“He is a man like any other. Everything is possible when you believe. He has two hands and I also have two hands. Anything could happen. The strategy to beat Alex is to have a mixed fight. You can’t just do wrestling or just exchange,” said the Cuban.

A former UFC middleweight (up to 83,9 kg) standout, Romero left the organization chaired by Dana White in 2020. Afterwards, the veteran moved to Bellator.

As a competitor, Yoel has five commitments, having won on three occasions. In the middle of last season, the fighter challenged for the light heavyweight belt, but ended up being defeated by Vadim nemkov.
