Ten days after defeating Esquiva Falcão and winning the Brazilian boxing belt at Spaten Fight Night, an event that marked the farewell of Anderson Silva in Brazil, Hebert Conceição closed the door on the possibility of a rematch against his rival.

During his appearance on the 'Mundo da Luta' podcast, on 'Combate', the gold medalist at the Tokyo Olympic Games spoke about his victory, ruled out a second meeting and did not waste the chance to provoke his rival.

“You’ve already had yours, my son. Accept that it hurts less. It goes to sleep. Rematch is deserved when the fight is balanced, decided in detail. That wasn't the case, I got over it. Out of ten rounds, I won eight or nine. There were people who said I won all ten”, argued the Bahian.

Hebert Conceição also responded to those who criticized him for allegedly slowing down and 'running' in the final rounds. According to the Bahian, strategy is part of the 'noble art' to guarantee victory and avoid being surprised.

“It's the same as when a team is winning by a landslide and gets a goal at the end, which puts the kids in the game. There were people saying I ran, but boxing is the art of touching and not being touched. I wouldn't do like the Ukrainian at the Olympics. I handled the fight masterfully and didn’t leave any room for a rematch,” he explained.

Finally, Hebert countered Esquiva's comments, who stated that he had only trained for combat for three weeks. In the opinion of the Bahian, this demonstrates a lack of professionalism on the part of the Espírito Santo.

“He said he only trained for three weeks, but that’s his problem. I can't call him an athlete. I'm an athlete. If I don't have a fight, I'm training. If he doesn’t train when there’s no fight, he’s a fighter and not an athlete”, he concluded.
