Even with Alex Poatán defending the light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg) 'only' twice, Daniel Cormier believes that the Brazilian will not find rivals with the capacity to beat him. In a statement on his weekly podcast with Chael Sonnen, the current Ultimate commentator analyzed the top-15 in the division and said that none of the athletes will be able to beat the current champion.

“When I look at the light heavyweight scene, I look at the top five (of the rankings), he beat Jiri (Prochazka) twice. He has already beaten Jamahal (Hill), who is also in the top five. I look at this weight range now Chael, and I don't see fighters (capable of beating Poatan). I don't see any fighter capable of being in the top 10. The number six in the world is Nikita Krylov. If no one fights this guy, Chael, how long can Alex Pereira reign at the top of the division? Because it seems like if you're forced to fight him and attack him, you really don't have a chance,” Cormier said.
