One of the most important commentators in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Daniel Cormier, has also joined the chorus of those who want to see a duel between Jon Jones and Alex Poatan . In a statement on his podcast with Chael Sonnen , 'DC' gave a brief analysis of the possible confrontation between the light heavyweight (up to 93kg) and heavyweight (up to 120,2kg) champions.

“I'll tell you what Jones said: Now he can stick around because he said 'The options are great.' If I'm Jones, I fight Stipe, I beat Stipe, and then I ask the UFC to move Pereira up to heavyweight, knowing that you could take all that thunder because Jones vs. Pereira would be worth a huge payday (to the two fighters). Jones would be favored in a fight against Pereira if they fought. So it would be a great fight, though, I love Alex, man. It couldn’t have happened to a better guy,” Cormier said.

Last Saturday (29), at UFC 303 , Poatan knocked out Jiri Prochazka again and defended the light heavyweight belt for the second time at the event held at the T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas (USA).

On the other hand, Jones hasn't stepped into the octagon for over a year, since he submitted Ciryl Gane and won the heavyweight title. A few months later, 'Bones' suffered a serious chest injury that prevented him from defending his title. The American's return to the octagon is expected in November, when he should finally face Stipe Miocic , on the card scheduled for New York (USA).
