While he dreams of a new chance to compete for the lightweight belt (up to 70,3 kg) against Islam makhachev, Charles of the Bronx is in the sights of a former champion recently dethroned from the title of his category: Alexander Volkanovsky.
In a video published on the Israel adesanya, the former featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg) spoke about his options for the future and stated that he will only return to featherweight to fight for the belt he lost in a duel against Ilia Topuria in February this year. Meanwhile, the Australian intends to 'have fun' at lightweight.

“In featherweight, obviously I only accept a rematch for the belt. I want big fights. The featherweight division is still my division and I'm going to win it back, but we can have some fun at lightweight while we wait. I think they will do Max Holloway e Ilia Topuria in September, because I told the UFC that I didn’t want to fight until the end of the year”, explained Volkanovski.
Among the options available in light weight, two names please Alexander Volkanovsky, including the Brazilian Charles of the Bronx.
“I don’t want to wait too long either. If they want me to fight in March or April 2025, I'll fight at lightweight. I want exciting fights, like Charles of the Bronx. I came to challenge Dustin poirier. He’s a great guy, we get along well and it would obviously be a great, fun fight.”
