Undefeated and on a meteoric rise in his career, Ian Machado Garry acknowledges that he is close to a possible title fight and is already aiming for the top of the welterweight category (up to 77,1kg). Despite always highlighting Colby Covington 's 'timid' attitude , the Irishman has added another veteran to his list: Kamaru Usman . In the athlete's view, the Nigerian will avoid the confrontation.
“Colby is never accepting the fight. He’s running away scared. After ( UFC 303 ), he said, ‘Yeah, screw it, see you later.’ He’s jumping on someone’s rented yacht, acting like it’s his. Look, there’s Usman, one of the greatest champions we’ve ever seen. I believe he’ll be scared and won’t make the challenge either. He doesn’t want to fight someone so young and dangerous,” Garry declared in an interview with 'TNT Sports'.

By continuing his speech, Ian demonstrated that he was only interested in fighters above the rankings. Currently the fighter occupies seventh position in the category.
“I just have to see how the rest of the division plays out now. I'm in the driver's seat. There are only a few people I can fight that will be above me,” he concluded.

At 26 years old, Garry has accumulated eight fights and eight victories in the organization. In his last appearance, the Irishman defeated Michael Page by unanimous decision and took another step towards his dream of a title shot.
