The return of the star UFC, Jon Jones, the octagon may be further away than imagined. The heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg) disclosed, in a post later deleted, that he suffered a serious injury to one of his fingers. The news fell like a bombshell in the world of mixed martial arts, as the athlete was expected to defend his belt against Stipe Miocic still this year.

The scenario changed drastically with the revelation of the injury. Jones deleted the original post, but left clues about his health in other cryptic messages. The exact nature of the injury is still unknown, but the severity of the incident is a cause for concern for the fighter and his fans.

“I cut off half my finger at the Las Vegas airport,” Jon wrote in a since-deleted post.

With Jones' future uncertain, the heavyweight division faces yet another upheaval. Stipe Miocic remains waiting for an opponent, while Tom aspinall fight for the interim belt against Curtis blaydes at UFC 304, on July 27th.
