“In a perfect world, it should be Aspinall x Jon Jones for the unification of titles, but that is not the world we live in. The UFC has had a lot of strange fights over the years. It's normal for the UFC. I'm not like, 'Oh my God.' This is normal,” Blaydes said.
Despite saying that nothing will stop him from achieving his goal, 'Razor' criticized the timing of his fight with Aspinall, which will take place in the early hours of Manchester.
“The biggest difference is that the fight will take place at around 4am and that's what doesn't really feel like a real title fight. You wouldn't have Conor McGregor fighting at 4am, regardless of where the fight takes place. That makes it seem a little less important, but I don't care. I'm getting the money from the title fight purse. That’s all that matters”, concluded the American.
Current number four in the rankings, Blaydes will star in the co-main fight of UFC 304, which takes place on July 27, in Manchester, England. To reach the interim belt in the category, the North American will need to get past the champion Tom aspinall, which will have the incentive of a packed arena in its favor.
