Leon Edwards' trainer belittles Nate Diaz's challenge to the welterweight champion: 'Joke'

In an interview with 'Submission Radio', Dave Lovell did not take the veteran's provocations seriously and ruled out any chance of a rematch

After beat Jorge Masvidal in boxing, Nate diaz showed he had bold plans for his future and even challenged the UFC welterweight champion (up to 77,1kg) Leon edwards. However, the Jamaican's coach threw cold water on the veteran's plans and ruled out any chance of a rematch between them.

“This is all a joke. Leon doesn't have time for this Mickey Mouse thing right now. Good job for him that Nate is still making money and fighting, but I personally think he needs to leave the game alone. He was punished a little too much. I know it was just boxing with Jorge (Masvidal), but he's still taking damage, you know? Remember, this guy has life after the fight and if he continues the way he is, he won't have much of a life left. I love him and he's a great guy, but sometimes fighters need to be saved from themselves. I think Nate is one of those cases,” Lovell said.

The first (and only) duel between Leon edwards e Nate diaz took place in June 2021, in UFC 263 and the confrontation ended with the English fighter's victory by unanimous decision from the judges.

Last June 06th, Nate diaz won Jorge masvidal in the majority decision of the judges in an exciting boxing duel. Current welterweight champion, Leon edwards will put his belt on the line for the third time at UFC 304, which takes place this Saturday (27), against North American Belal Muhammad |.
