Victim of a delicate phase in MMA, Tony Ferguson is being the target of several requests for his retirement. In addition to athletes and fans, Dana White follows the same thought and does not hide frustration with the athlete's negative record. Aware of the facts, 'El Cucuy' sent a message to the president and assured that he was calm in the welterweight division (up to 77,1kg) in his new division.
“Well, we also want Dana to do a lot of shit for him last. So, I mean, we can't take that for granted either. I'm just being realistic. At 77kg, I'm not killing myself to get to 70. I feel fresher. 70kg is closer to my weight as a high school wrestler. I’m 40 freaking years old,” said Ferguson in an interview at UFC Abu Dhabi media day.

Scheduled to perform this Saturday (03), the North American rules out that this will be his last appearance in the octagon and guarantees that he is ready to put on a show.
“I feel comfortable at 77kg. I don't feel like this will be my last fight. I have to do some extraordinary things, that's what I'm planning to do. So that's why I'm feeling sharp. I've already done two workouts this morning. I love this company and I still have a lot of fights ahead of me. This is not a fight, be it the last or the first, or how everyone wants to see it. I feel very renewed,” he concluded.
Suffered by seven consecutive defeats, Ferguson faces the veteran Michael chiesa on the UFC Abu Dhabi main card. El Cucuy's last victory came in 2019, when he overcame Donald Cerrone.
