Long-time rival of Tony Ferguson, Khabib Nurmagomedov expressed solidarity with the North American's delicate moment, after the athlete suffered an eighth consecutive defeat at UFC Abu Dhabi. In a positive message to the veteran, the Russian stated that 'El Cucuy's' life is just beginning and wished him good energy on his journey.
“I just want to wish him (Ferguson) all the best. He's one of the best to ever be in the UFC. I just want to wish him all the best. His life is just beginning, he’s only 40 years old, he’s just finished his MMA career,” Khabib told UFC Europe.

By continuing his speech, the former champion avoided regretting the fact that he never had a duel against the veteran at the height of the UFC rivalry and acknowledged that it was not under his control.
“Of course, at my peak, my peak and his, it would be an interesting fight, but what can I do? He had some injuries, I had some injuries, it is what it is, you know. Sometimes we have plans, but God has his plans. We can’t control this,” he concluded.
At 40 years old, Tony was defeated for the eighth time in a row and broke the organization's record for the most defeats achieved in a row. The incident occurred at UFC Abu Dhabi, where he was submitted by Michael chiesa still in the first round. Despite the episode, the fighter avoided retirement.
