Former flyweight champion (up to 56,7 kg), Deiveson Figueiredo took an important step towards a chance to compete for the bantamweight belt (up to 61,2 kg) by defeating Marlon Vera at UFC Abu Dhabi and guarantee a place in the top 5 of the category. Now, the Brazilian is already targeting champion Sean O'Malley.
In an interview with 'MMA Fighting', the Brazilian spoke about the possibility of fighting for the title in his next fight and took the opportunity to provoke the current owner of the belt.

“I know that this victory over Chito Vera can lead me to a title shot soon. I don't know what's next. I sell fights better, but I don't know what Dana White and the bosses are planning. Sean O'Malley knows I'm a nuisance to him. He's been needling me since I gained weight. I know I'm the one he wants to face. We have to make the boss want this fight too”, said 'Daico'.
Category champion, Sean O'Malley has his belt defense scheduled against the Georgian Merab Dvalishvili, first in the ranking, in the UFC 306, in September, in 'Esfera'. In addition to Deiveson, another athlete eagerly awaiting a chance to compete for the title is Umar Nurmagomedov, which hit Cory Sandhagen in Abu Dhabi to reach second position in the ranking. In the Brazilian's opinion, fights against Merab or Umar would be more challenging than with O'Malley.
“It would be more difficult to grapple with Umar and Merab, but I can impose my game and become champion. O'Malley moves a lot and is difficult to touch, but I would be aggressive standing up against him. He moves well and has good boxing, but I don't see much power there. He throws a lot of kicks, but I don't see hard blows that knock out and hurt his opponents, you know? It would be very difficult for him to knock me out”, he analyzed.
