The 2024 Olympic Games, which were held in Paris and ended last Sunday (11), have been the scene of controversy, especially surrounding statements by the former challenger for the welterweight title (up to 77kg.) and one of the characters UFC's most controversial Colby covington.
Known for his conservative views, Covington expressed his outrage in a video published on platform X, sparing no criticism of the opening ceremony, which featured the participation of drag artists who, according to him, disrespect the Christian faith.

“The opening ceremonies were supposed to be a tribute to the achievements of the athletes, but instead they became a platform to impose an ideological agenda, mocking the Christian faith and promoting images that I consider pagan and demonic. This is shameful and disrespectful to everyone who works hard to get here,” Covington said.
In addition to criticizing the ceremony, the fighter also raised concerns about the participation of athletes who, according to him, have biological advantages. He specifically mentioned boxer Imane Khelif from Algeria, who won the gold medal in the women's category.
“We are seeing men competing against women, it is unacceptable. We need to keep men out of women’s sports,” she declared.
The controversy gained even more strength with the case of Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, who won the gold medal at the Paris Olympic Games. The athlete was the target of several accusations of being transgender, which sparked a huge discussion on social media. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) denied the accusations, stating that Khelif identifies as a woman and that there are no irregularities in her participation.
