UFC champion rejects possible fight with Conor McGregor: 'He seems to be on drugs'

Welterweight champion Belal Muhammad doesn't think it's fair that McGregor 'jumps the queue' of active athletes to fight for the title

For many years, a fight against Conor McGregor was everything a UFC fighter could want, mainly due to the Irishman's popularity and the financial potential of a duel against him. Away from the octagon for three years and going through a bad streak in his career, the 'Notorious' seems to have lost some value among his colleagues and potential rivals, as in the case of Belal Muhammad |.

The organization's current welterweight champion (up to 77,1 kg), the American of Palestinian descent, stated in an interview with 'Submission Radio' that he rejects the idea of defending the belt against McGregor, stating that he believes it would not be fair for the Irishman to jump the queue of active athletes.

“I don’t think he’s going to look good at 77 pounds. The guy doesn’t look good in his life right now. He looks like he’s on drugs. If he wins Michael chandler, I wouldn't let him jump the queue, because there are guys who work for it. (…) In terms of legacy, of course I would like to slap Conor around, but it's taking so long for him to make this fight happen with Chandler. If they think I would wait two years to fight with Conor McGregor, it's not going to happen. I'm going to face the guys who are fighting, working and deserving it. Conor doesn't deserve it,” said the champion.

Belal Muhammad | became UFC champion by dominating Leon edwards at UFC 304 in July of this year. The American has not yet confirmed his first title defense, but rumors indicate that Shavkat Rakhmonov may be the first challenger.
