Former UFC interim heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg), Cyryl Gane is stepping up its preparation for the clash against Alexander Volkov No. UFC 308, and to do so, he adopted an unconventional strategy. The Frenchman sparred with NBA star Rudy Gobert in an attempt to simulate the reach and height of his next opponent. The match will take place on October 26.
The unusual partnership between the athletes was recorded and shared on the social media of the MMA Factory gym, which has Gane as its main exponent. The idea behind the sparring is to prepare Gane for the distance he will need to maintain with Volkov, who also has considerable reach. However, experts question the effectiveness of the training, arguing that the basketball player's technique may not be the best suited to simulate an MMA fight.
In addition to facing a large opponent, Cyryl Gane also looking to get back on the winning track after an inconsistent streak. A win over Volkov would be crucial to boosting his career and bringing him closer to a title fight.
