UFC confirms fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic for the belt; see date

'Bones' returns to the octagon in first title defense against former champion at UFC 309 in November

The mystery is over. The UFC managed to negotiate the return of Jon Jones, which will face Stipe Miocic in the fight for the heavyweight belt (up to 120,2 kg) in UFC 309, an event that takes place on November 16. The official announcement was made this Saturday (14), during the organization's fights at Esfera, in Las Vegas.

In a possible farewell to the octagon, Jon Jones returns to the Octagon after shoulder injury for first heavyweight title defense. 'Bones' won the title in March 2023 at UFC 285, when finished Cyryl Gane in the first round.

Miocic, who is considered by many to be the greatest name in the history of the division, returns to the octagon after three years. The Croatian-American has a record of 20 wins and four losses, is trying to return to the elite of the division and seeks to reclaim the top spot in the category that he led from 2019 to 2021.

O UFC 309, so far, has eight fights scheduled. In addition to Jones vs. Miocic, the rematch between Charles of the Bronx x Michael chandler is already confirmed at the event.
