Alex Poatán gave in… but outside the octagon. The Brazilian, current light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg), agreed with Dana White regarding Jon Jones to be the best fighter in MMA in recent times. In an interview with reporter Helen Yee, Poatan didn't need to think long to answer.
“The greatest of all time, who is still active, is Jon Jones right. Just like Dana White says, right, man, he's the man”, said the Brazilian.
Really 'the man'
Jones is a 15-time UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion. He has a 13-time title defense streak, the longest in the organization. Additionally, at age 23, 'Bones' became the youngest champion in UFC history when he won the light heavyweight belt against Mauritius Shogun, 13 years ago.

About three weeks ago, the UFC made the superfight between Jones and the Croatian official Stipe Miocic No. UFC 309, for the heavyweight belt. Both athletes have a good chance of 'hanging up their gloves' after the fight, scheduled for November 16th of this year.
Already the commitment of Alex Poatán in the octagon is earlier. He faces Khalil rountree Jr for the light heavyweight belt (up to 93 kg) in the main fight of the UFC 307, this Saturday (5), at the altitude of Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. The event also features, in the co-main fight, the bantamweight belt dispute (up to 61,2 kg) between the champion Rachel Pennington and the former champion Julianna Pena.
