O UFC 306, an event held at Esfera, was marked by a historic moment for MMA fans: the meeting between two of the greatest champions in history, Alex Poatán e Jon Jones. The fighters, who crossed paths backstage of the event, generated speculation about a possible duel in the future, but the Brazilian was straight to the point: the focus at the moment is to learn from the veteran.
“I didn’t think about fighting, I thought about training. He’s already made it clear that he’s going to retire and I’m not yet in the heavyweight division. But I really want to learn from him, absorb some of his experience,” said the Brazilian, who has a scheduled engagement in UFC 307, at a press conference.

Poatan's interest in moving up to the heavyweight category (up to 120,2 kg) is nothing new. The champion had already expressed this desire on other occasions and the meeting with Jones may have accelerated his plans. However, the immediate focus is on confrontation with Khalil rountree next Saturday (5).
Jones, in turn, is experiencing a special moment in his career. After a period away, the American is back in the octagon and is expected to say goodbye in 2023. His next challenge and likely final challenge will be against Stipe Miocic No. UFC 309.
