One day after declaring that his rivalry with Alex Poatán was over, Israel adesanya has once again fueled a controversy involving his arch-enemy. During an interview with 'Joe Rogan' on the recent JRE MMA Show, the Nigerian said he believes the allegations of Jiri Prochazka about Brazilians using shamanic magic to win their battles.
Adesanya claimed to have observed a similar pattern between his last Glory fight in Brazil and his only UFC loss against Poatan.
“You know what Jiri said about this whole juju thing? Like that’s real? That’s real! The last time I fought him in Miami, look… the guy beat me in the biggest arena on the planet, Madison Square Garden, just like the last time he beat me in Brazil,” he recalled.

Things looked in Adesanya’s favor in both fights, but Poatan somehow found the energy and opportunity to finish Izzy with a knockout. Which, according to the Nigerian, happened because of the spirits supporting Poatan.
“I was beating his ass, I hurt him at the end of the first round… and then he catches me in the last round. It’s his spirit, whatever it is, like ancestors or his people, that are praying for him… The way he carries himself. Something about him just, he knows how to bounce back well,” Adesanya added.
Poatan does not feed controversy
Alex Poatán doesn't give a damn about those who question him about their spirits. The current light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) claims that everyone has spirits inside them, and it's up to them whether they want to believe that or not.
“Well, everyone has their own spirit, we are not just made of flesh and blood, I found mine. If he (Prochazka) didn’t find his or if he doesn’t believe, it’s not my fault,” Poatan pointed out.
