“The officiating was an atrocity tonight. Let me be clear: it was an atrocity. It’s common sense that when a fighter is dodging and doing everything he can to avoid the fight, the referee should immediately separate them. If that happens for three consecutive rounds and the fighter doesn’t get the takedown, he should be given a few seconds and if he can’t get the takedown, he should be separated,” Dana said.

The UFC president also addressed the importance of judges evaluating the fight based on the effectiveness of the athletes, questioning the logic of considering only the control of a fighter.

“If you are evaluating a fighter, if it is control, if it is this or that, how do you win the fight if you are not trying to fight? Evaluating only the takedown attempts and ignoring the defense is crazy,” said Cartola.

New phase of José Aldo

With the defeat to mario bautista, the former featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg) sees your dreams of a new chance at the title become more distant. Aldo, who at 38 was recently Hall of Fame Inductee of the UFC, now has 32 wins in his career and nine losses, three of which have come in his last two fights.
