Karate Combat will hold its 50th edition on October 11th in Salt Lake City (USA). And to celebrate this significant milestone, the organization has prepared a card full of highlights. Among them, the debut of Aline Pereira. The sister of the UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Poatán will face Irishwoman Dee Begley in a catchweight bout.
The event can be watched live on the brand's official YouTube channel, and also on UFC Fight Pass Brazil, from 20pm (Brasília time).
Having participated in events such as Glory Kickboxing and LFA, Aline has an aggressive style and emulates some of her brother's trademarks, such as powerful left crosses and low kicks. She trained alongside Poatan – who won Khalil rountree No. UFC 307 last Saturday -, already in Salt Lake City, to acclimatize to the altitude (1.288 meters above sea level).
“Participating in an event of the size of Karate Combat is an important milestone in my professional career. I’ve been here (in Salt Lake City) for three weeks, and I believe the altitude will no longer be a problem. I’m well adapted. And the mission is the same as always: to put into practice everything I’ve learned, put on a show for the audience and leave with my arm raised at the end,” said the fighter.
“I’ve fought in the ring and in the cage. Now, Karate Combat will also bring this new element, which is the pit (a fighting arena similar to a moat, with walls angled at 45 degrees). It’s a new environment, which I find very interesting. But a fight is a fight. I’m ready for whatever comes my way,” she added.
Two other Brazilians will also be in action. After his debut win over Bam Morris in June, Markus 'Maluko' Perez will return to the event, this time to face Russian Artur Alibulatov in a catchweight challenge.
Former Brave FC champion Luan 'Miau' Santiago will make his debut at the event. He will face American Korey Kuppe in the welterweight category (up to 75kg).
