With the victory over Khalil rountree last Saturday (05), Alex Poatán has once again impressed the MMA world, including Chael Sonnen, who believed in the challenger's chances, and surrendered to the Brazilian's talent, placing him in the discussion of the greatest of all time.
The former fighter and now commentator did not hold back on his praise when talking about the Brazilian. In his participation in UFC 307 On ESPN MMA's Post Show, Sonnen said Poatan is revolutionizing the sport.

“He (Poatan) is too one-dimensional to be the greatest of all time. I mean, it’s just kickboxing. There’s no ground work. There’s never been a takedown, there’s never been a submission defense, there’s never been a submission attempt. And he could be the greatest of all time. He’s revolutionizing the sport. I mean, just when you think you know everything about the sport, things change and you see a guy like that. What an athlete!”, said the commentator.
Poatan in the heavyweights
Chael Sonnen He also spoke about the possibility of Poatan trying for his third heavyweight belt (up to 120,2 kg). For the American, if he wins, the Brazilian would end the discussion about the greatest fighter of all time.
“We either have a number one contender for him within his weight class, or we have an interim heavyweight champion (Tom aspinall) who, by the way, is being held back, will go through training camp and will get paid in November, regardless of whether he fights or not. I’m just saying there’s a perfect opportunity to make this fight. I want to see him go up. I believe if he wins a belt up there, including an interim belt, we’re done with the GOAT conversation. We’re not going to talk about it anymore. We’re just going to say Alex Pereira,” the former fighter concluded.
