Khalil rountree was badly defeated in his attempt to take the UFC light heavyweight title (up to 93 kg) from Alex Poatán last Saturday (5), in the main event of the card in Salt Lake City, USA. From the third round to the fourth, when he suffered a technical knockout, the American was severely punished by the Brazilian and left the octagon disfigured.
In addition to the bruises, cuts and contusions, Rountree revealed that he suffered a deviated septum during the fight. UFC 307 and has already undergone a painful procedure to resolve the problem. This Tuesday (8), he posted a photo on social media of his recovery from surgery.
“Septoplasty is the worst surgery on the planet. It’s pure pain. I don’t know what punch, but I know the last uppercut before the body shots definitely hit my nose, but I had already felt a little bit of pain in my head. That might have been it, but after we did the tests and everything the night of the fight, yeah, the doctors saw that there was a slight fracture and a severe deviated septum, so we went ahead and fixed that as soon as I got home,” Rountree said.

The American also reported what the first night after surgery was like.
“Definitely the most uncomfortable and painful procedure I’ve ever had last night. It was the hardest sleep I’ve ever had. My mouth is constantly dry and I have a constant headache. Inside my nose, my sinuses are now just stuffed with sponges and splints. It’s very, very uncomfortable,” she lamented.
Worth it
Despite being ranked number 8 in the category, Rountree impressed many in the UFC 307, because he did well against Poatan and gave the Brazilian a hard time in the first two rounds. Even though he was punished at the end, the American said that there are no doubts about his career after the damage suffered and that it was all worth it.
“Every scar I have, every bump, it’s all worth it. For me, having worked so hard to get to the point where I can fight Alex in a main event for a title, everything that came with it was totally worth it. I wouldn’t change a thing,” he said.
