After almost two years of official retirement in the UFC, Glover Teixeira now leaves open the possibility of returning to competition. In an interview with the website MMA Fighting, the former light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) revealed a change of plans and says that he still feels the desire to compete.
“There is nothing (scheduled), but I will definitely compete again. I continue to seek challenges. It is difficult to keep training without a reason, so I will do something. I want to compete,” said Teixeira, who hung up his gloves in January 2023.

At 44, Glover remains in excellent physical and mental shape, training hard with top-level athletes such as Alex Poatán e Sean Strickland. The compatriot pupil even encourages the veteran to come back often. He has already had a grappling match against Anthony Smith, but now he is considering new possibilities, such as boxing or even a return to the UFC octagon.
“I’ll do some jiu-jitsu, I want to do it. I don’t know, maybe boxing or even going back to some UFC fights. I feel great, fighting hard with guys in the gym. I’ve rolled with some fighters, training with Sean Strickland and Poatan. I was doing some light sparring with Poatan the other day, and he said, 'Damn, Glover, you've got to come back!'. I love that. I'm not saying I want to fight, but I want to compete," he concluded.
With a record of 33 wins and nine losses, Teixeira made his mark in MMA history by winning the world title at the age of 42, becoming the oldest champion to win the belt for the first time in UFC history.
