Former featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg) and two-time opponent of Amanda nunes, Germain de Randamie announced this Thursday (31) her retirement from professional MMA. The 40-year-old Dutchwoman said goodbye through a post on social media.
In a post on 'Instagram', De Randamie explained that he would like to have one more fight in the UFC in 2024, but as all cards until the end of the year would be complete, he chose to bring forward his retirement by two months.

“Hey guys. I’m sharing this with you with very mixed feelings. I definitely didn’t see it coming this way, but things are what they are sometimes. I begged the UFC for one more fight, but it had to be this year. I promised myself I would retire on December 31, 2024. Unfortunately, the UFC told me all the cards are full, so I decided now is the time. I really wanted to get in there one more time, but it wasn’t meant to be. Too many people to personally thank, so thank you all for being a part of my journey. Thank you for the incredible memories, I’m grateful for all of them. As I always say: Die with memories, not dreams,” the former champion wrote.
Germain de Randamie leaves professional MMA with a record of ten wins and five losses. A kickboxing legend, the Dutch fighter transitioned to mixed martial arts in 2008 and arrived at the UFC in 2013, the year in which she faced and was defeated by Amanda nunes for the first time.
In 2017, De Randamie became the first featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg) in UFC history by defeating Holly holm, but was eventually stripped of the title after refusing to defend it against Chris Cyborg.
Back at bantamweight, the Dutch fighter fought for the belt once again in 2019, but ended up being defeated once again by Amanda nunes.
