Alex Poatan nominates Carlos Prates as 'Revelation of the Year' in the UFC and jokes: 'He knocks you out and still smokes'

Alex Poatán did not spare praise for his compatriot Carlos Prates during a chat with the Fighting Nerds team, in São Paulo. Amid discussions about the 'Fighter of the Year', the current light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg.) pointed out his compatriot as a strong candidate for the revelation of the season, on the eve of his fight against Neil Magny No. ufc vegas 100 next Saturday (9).

“The guys asked me about (who should be) the 'Revelation of the Year' (in the UFC). Then I said: man, the guy knocked everyone out and the son of a bitch still smokes,” joked Poatan, referring to Prates' habit of smoking outside of fight time.

With three consecutive knockout wins in 2024, Carlos Prates has made an impact in the welterweight division (up to 77kg). His last performance was in the ufc vegas 100, where he finished the Chinese Jingliang Li in the second round. The Brazilian, who began his career in the UFC this year, will have an even greater challenge in his next fight, against the experienced Neil Magny.

The 31-year-old fighter has a record of 20 wins and six losses. In his short time in the UFC, he has knocked out three opponents and has become one of the most promising names in the organization.
