Ahead of his long-awaited return to the Octagon in UFC 309, next Saturday (16) against the former champion Stipe Miocic, Jon Jones participated in the same grip strength test as Alex Poatán e Khalil rountree did before the fight for the light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg) in UFC 307. The device used, a dynamometer, is used to measure the muscular strength of the hands and wrists.
After putting in a lot of effort, 'Bones' recorded a score of 132,8 pounds (60,2 kg.) Excited with the result, it was the heavyweight champion's turn (up to 120,2 kg.) to test his left hand.

“Okay, let me try with the other hand. I don’t think I have anger. I don’t have anger in me right now. No, I had two surgeries on this side not too long ago, I’ll blame them,” he admitted jokingly. (see below)

On his second attempt, this time with his left hand, Jones registered even less: 119 pounds (53,9 kg.)
Jones' score on the grip strength test shocked fans… but in a bad way. That's because the current light heavyweight champion, Alex Poatán, registered 159,2 pounds (72,2 kg.) before the UFC 307. His opponent on that occasion, Khalil rountree, weighed 166,2 pounds (75,3 kg.) and holds the organization's current record.
Former UFC heavyweight champion, the French-Cameroonian Francis Ngannou, currently in the PFL, surpassed Rountree's record last month, weighing in at an incredible 177 pounds (80,2 kg). Ngannou's opponent at the time, Brazilian Renan Problem, scored 152 lbs (68,9 kg).
Fans compare Jones' performance to Poatan
Much has been said about Bones' lack of interest in Tom aspinall. The champion has been eyeing a possible confrontation with Poatan, should the Brazilian move up to the heavyweight division.
However, Jones' 'disappointing' performance in the grip test has seen fans compare the UFC legend to Poatan.
'I thought he would do at least 200 (pounds),' one commented. 'Man, Alex Pereira managed 160 without pushing it,' another commented.
