UFC promise preaches respect, praises grappling and aims for duel against Khamzat Chimaev

Who can stop 'The Wolf'? That was the question the MMA world asked itself after the Khamzat Chimaev's dominant performance against Robert Whittaker No. UFC 308. Although he was also impressed with the finish, BoNickal wants to find out if his grappling game is enough to beat the Chechen.

In an interview with 'Submission Radio', Nickal showed confidence and expressed that, in the current middleweight scenario (up to 83,9 kg), he may be the only one capable of competing on the ground against Chimaev. In addition, the UFC promise pointed out that there is still a way to go until he conquers his position at the top of the ranking and, consequently, a duel against 'Lobo'.

“A lot of people have said that when you look at the weight class, I’m probably the only one that could match him in grappling. And hopefully eventually that’s the fight we see. I’ve got a lot of work to do, a lot of fights to get there because he’s up there in the title picture. So when we get there, we’ll find out,” the three-time NCAA champion explained.

Although he is eager to fight Khamzat, the American wrestler expressed his admiration for Chimaev’s performance against Whittaker. He mentioned that from the first time he saw the Chechen, he realized that he was “exceptional”, especially when it came to grappling.

I think from the first time I saw him fight, which was his first UFC fight in Abu Dhabi, I thought, ‘This guy is exceptional.’ That’s no different than what everyone else thought.
