The hype of Wang Cong didn't last long. Instead of the 'Joker', who had the last laugh in UFC Macau was Gabriella Fernandes, who entered the octagon as the biggest surprise of the event, last Saturday (23). Fighting at home, the Chinese flyweight (up to 56,7 kg) showed superiority in the first round, but at the end of the second, the Brazilian managed to stun her opponent with a straight and then finish her with a rear naked choke, which made Wang Cong sleep in the octagon.

The fact that she defeated the current UFC champion, Valentina Shevchenko, at the time of kickboxing and defeated Victoria Leonardo within a minute of her Octagon debut earlier this year, the 32-year-old Chinese's hype skyrocketed. However, Wang Cong had not yet been tested in a ground fight. The submission loss suffered by Gabriella was the first of the 'Joker' in MMA and raised the alert of critics on duty about its true potential.

But it seems that the defeat in the middle of China did not shake the confidence of Wang Cong. Through her official 'Instagram' account, the 'Joker' stated that the episode was just a small setback in the grand plan of her bright future inside the octagon.

“Thank you to everyone who showed up Saturday night and to the fans who supported me. This is the fight game, one mistake can cost you the match. But I’m fine, injury free and in good spirits. I still believe I’m the man, no doubt about it,” he wrote.
